Family Days

This past weekend we made it down to the Southern Connecticut shore (Long Island Sound) to spend some relaxing time with some of my family. My mom's sister, Diane and her husband Kent hosted us and spoiled us as we rested by the shore and visited to our hearts' content. Thank you Uncle Kent and Auntie Diane!

Nadia checking the tidal conditions first thing in the morning. She decided that it was definitely low tide.

Uncle Kent confirms her suspicions. It is indeed low tide. The salty mud beckons the nearly 3 year old as she hunches to investigate some half-hidden clams.

An hour later, Auntie Diane and Nadia listen as a blue grass band strums and plucks out tunes at a local farmer's market.

We strolled lazily through and eyed the wares. Nadia walked away with a new beaded bracelet, and we all benefited from some more yummy local strawberries! :)

Phil and Nadia look on as Auntie Diane decides it's time to add some Astible to her growing shade garden.

Just about 2 weeks to go.

Later that same day, we hit a local beach. The weather cooperated nicely and we got a few hours in the sand and sun (not so much the surf... too chilly!!!). Phil dug holes with her, Uncle Kent searched for shells with her, Auntie Diane built (and re-built) sand creatures with her.

Not to be left out, I... sat there... in the sand with her. :)

In the end it was just a lovely, New England-by-the-sea kind of day.
