Pythons and Saturday Mornings

Playing with neighbor friends in our front room.

This picture shows so much. This is how our Saturday mornings usually go. Nadia and friends playing in the front of the house, Phil working hard on the porch (currently building bunk beds for our soon-to-be tribal house - stay tuned for photos of those), laundry drying in the yard, and not pictured here: me working in the kitchen baking and cooking for the week to come.

Kids hopping the fence to come play in our yard with Nadia.

Our friend's daughter and her pet baby reticulated python (yes, they ARE crazy people...). Nadia could NOT wait to go see the snake and hold him. "I go see the baby snake and hold him and say 'you so CUTE!!!!'?"

Wearing rain boots 10 sizes too big. Who needs waders?!

Inching closer to actually touching him. She got only a little bit nervous about it, and only because the snake was actually moving. I don't think she was prepared for that.

She did it though, she petted the snake just once, and then decided that it was enough. She didn't want to hold him after all. Fine by me. This family (ours, i mean) will not be getting cuddly with reptiles. Maybe THAT'S how i can get Phil to agree to a puppy... i'll convince him we'd like a snake...

And last but not least: What a 2 Year Old can accomplish when one turns their back for 30 seconds. She apparently needs further instruction on make-up application. Either that, or she's recently discovered the unique, brazen "make-up" methods utilized by all the 80's hair bands (all of whom, i'm convinced, learned make-up application from a professional clown).
