little christmas video

This is our first try at video editing on our new Macbook. Whaddya think?

argyle mittens and pouty lips

This Christmas was fun for us as new mommy and daddy. We had the whole crew over for brunch and dinner, and had a great time with neices and nephews.

Kim, these argyle mittens are for you!
Nadia had fun opening her gifts from Memere. Mom, she loves those books - Apparently, they're delicious.

We just thought this little "who me?" look was funny.

This is her infamous pouty lip. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she's trying to play us.

And here, Nadia displays her fatigue - AND her love for cloth books.

Baby's First Christmas

These past few days have been fun with our little 5 month old, Nadia Renee, as we watch her grow and learn all sorts of things. She's growing like a weed, and learning things quicker than I can keep track.

She now completley associates Daddy's face with that of a camera.

Here she patiently listens as I read a book from Memere. She's holding the blankie that came with the book (as if she knows what she's doing).

She caught on right away with the mirror book, and squealed her falcetto when she saw her own face.

She sits up all by herself and is anxious to get moving.

Basically, she's the best little Christmas gift we've ever gotten.

snow

We've had some serious weather here in Chicagoland this past week. Nadia doesn't really know what to make of it just yet. We do. We'd very much like to move to Indonesia and leave this white stuff far behind. Until then, however, we'll make the best of it by making cookies and hot cocoa, and staying warm and dry.

green beans...not so much

Nadia is apparently not a huge fan of green beans.

deck the halls

Last week, Phil and I began to tackle the project of setting up the Christmas in his parents home. We set up the Christmas tree, piece by piece, then stood back and watched as Phil's parents decorated with ornaments.

Bed Time?

This evening, after her bath and a full dinner as well as some play time, I cuddled Nadia up in a blankie and scooted her off to bed. I sang her a little song, gave her a little kiss, and said nighty-night....but she had other plans. She was so happy and chatty that I had to get it on video. After I took this video, she went on like this in the dark, by herself for another 20 minutes before she finally quieted down and fell asleep. I can't tell you how happy I am to have a squealy, giggly little baby at bed time. I will take those happy, pleasant sounds any day over the fight that she could be waging.

Thanksgiven

We spent Thanksgiving this year with Phil's family at the funny..ah, family farm. 14 Svobodas and Cains under one roof.

Cousins - Clockwise: Nadia, Titus, Micah Joy, Elijah, Eden, and Levi.

Micah Joy is almost a year older than Nadia. She's already taken Nadia under her wing...not that Nadia exactly fits under her wing...

Granddad (Phil's Grandfather) has been farming all of his 80 years. Nadia was impressed. Granddad, in turn, was impressed with her sheer size...not that he showed it really. Mostly he just looks mad.

Here Nadia shows off her newly discovered bouncing skills. She's awesome.
